Who we are
Geoff Philcox is the founder of Open Pantry Tech Pty Ltd, a company that runs distributed teams across Australia, the Philippines, India and Vietnam. The company paid a per-user time tracker every month, for years, before replacing it with AirStaff — and now sells AirStaff worldwide.

Why we built it
We have a lot of remote staff across the Philippines, India and Vietnam, and Hubstaff was costing us a serious amount every single month. Now staff track and log their hours themselves, and I get the high-level reporting to make sure everyone’s on task without micromanaging.
That is the whole brief: know the hours are real, without paying for the privilege every month and without making staff feel spied on.
Per-user pricing made sense for the vendor, not for us. Every new hire made the bill bigger, and the bill never stopped. So AirStaff is built to be cheap to run — small screenshots, short retention, raw data rolled up after 90 days — which is what lets it be sold once rather than rented. The company that built it replaced its own per-user tracker with it.
How we build AirStaff
- Pay once
- AirStaff is sold as a lifetime licence: one payment covers a seat allowance for as long as we commercially operate the product. No renewal, no per-user monthly fee.
- Consent first
- Tracking is blocked at the server until a staff member accepts a monitoring notice, and jurisdiction notice periods are enforced.
- Counts, not keystrokes
- Keyboard and mouse activity is counted. What was typed is never captured.
- Keep less
- Screenshots are small, capped at 60 days by default and deleted nightly. Data lives on AWS in the Sydney region.
- Staff see it too
- Every staff member has a My data view with the same records their employer sees.
How we write comparisons
We publish comparisons with the trackers people ask us about. Every competitor price links to the vendor’s own page and carries the date it was checked, and every comparison says where the other tool is the better choice.
